Unorthodox Racing's Ultra G Stage 1 100% Kevlar Clutch

Once again Unorthodox Racing is the only aftermarket company to carry something specific to QG18DE equipped cars. They carry two clutch kits for the model. The Ultra G Stage 1 Kevlar Clutch kit (Part # 071000700) and the Ultra G Stage 2 Ceramic Clutch Kit (Part # 071010700) are currently available for purchase. Both kits go for around $500 dollars. The Stage 1 setup consists of a 100% pure Kevlar disc with an unsprung hub, matched pressure plate, and a release bearing. The Kevlar material is the key component of this street/strip setup. Lasting as much as 5 times longer than a stock unit in a stock vehicle, the Kevlar units can handle power increases of up to 100% over stock torque/horsepower levels in normally aspirated applications. For forced induction applications, they can handle increases of 50% or more over stock torque/horsepower levels. UR uses a 100% pure Kevlar material in their design since Kevlar blends do not work well. A clutch is only as good as the pressure plate it is matched to. All their heavy duty pressure plates are balanced and tested before shipping. Release bearing contact areas on all diaphragm springs are hardened to reduce wear. The Ultra G Stage 1 clutch setup is an excellent choice for everyday drivers and weekend racers.Ultra G Stage 1 clutches are not recommended for those who have added a large turbo, supercharger, or large nitrous shot to a normally aspirated vehicle. We also do not recommend their use with factory turbo cars that have been heavily modified. For these scenarios we recommend upgrading to our Ultra Grip Stage 2 (formerly 1+).UR's Ultra Grip Stage 2 (formerly 1+) setups utilize a specially blended ceramic button with an unsprung hub, matched heavy duty pressure plate, and release bearing. These unique buttons have an excellent wear rating for both the material and contact surfaces. Other benefits include a high holding capacity, longer life, and excellent driveability on the street. The Stage 2 setup is recommended for those who have added a large turbo, supercharger, or large nitrous shot to their naturally aspirated engine or have a highly modified factory turbo vehicle. Stay tuned for next months NPM issue, where we actually install the Ultra G Stage 1 clutch into Project QG18!!
